Abstract

1364065 Ionization chambers NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 28 July 1972 [11 Aug 1971] 37799/71 Heading HID An ionization chamber comprises methyl methacrylate discs 1, 2, 4 spaced apart by insu lating rings 5, 6, 7, 8 and carrying on their surfaces in contact with air in the chamber conductive material 14 arranged in a pattern of circular and radial lines occupying only a small proportion of the surfaces. The material 14 can be colloidal graphite held in grooves on the surfaces, contact being made by circumferential graphite regions 15. Graphite coatings 19 between the spacing rings intercept any leakage current between the discs. A filtered air inlet 11 is provided.
