Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent leakage of encapsulated gas by providing the sealing ring, at its contact surface, with a ring groove with its center on the assumed center point of the contact surface and a certain number of thin grooves stretching their two ends up to the internal and external circumferential edges of the contact surface. CONSTITUTION:A ring groove 6 formed in the contact surface 5a of a follower ring 5 has its center on the assumed central point of the contact surface 5a, where the point shall be 1/4 the contact surface width d apart from both the internal 5c and external 5b circumferential edges of the contact surface 5a at the contact surface width d of the contact surface 5a or farther. The thin grooves 7, 8 formed in the contact surface 5a is composed of a thin groove 7 inclined backward seen in the radial direction of the contact surface 5a with respect to the rotational direction C of the follower ring 5 and a thin groove 8 inclined forward in the same sense.
