Abstract
136,293. Mooney, D. J. Dec. 19, 1918. Framework.-In built-up metal spars, the webs and flanges are stiffened by internal tubular distancepieces and external plates at the positions where bolts pass through for fixing wiring-plates or struts. A bolt b for securing a wiring- plate h passes through the web walls d of a built-up spar a, the walls being stiffened by an inner tubular distance-piece e and external riveted plates c. The plates c may be continued and flanged so as to be riveted to the top and bottom flanges. Where a vertical and an horizontal bolt cross, the two distance-tubes e may be connected bv a plate; or two half-tubes or channel distance-pieces with flanges may be used, the flanges being riveted together at the centre.
