210,591. Armstrong Siddeley Motors, Ltd., and Lloyd, J. Dec. 19, 1922. Framework.-A longitudinally-grooved hollow girder is stiffened for attachment of stays, hinges, cross-members, and other fittings by tubular distance-pieces B arranged longitudinally with their sides in the grooves in the side members of the girder. The tubes B may be secured to the girder by bolts C, and stiffening plates D, may be riveted, welded, or brazed to the girder for the attachment of the stays &c. The tubes at one or both ends of the girder may be shaped to provide a hinge connection for a flap or rudder. Struts F may be provided to connect the tubes B with the upper and lower flanges A<4>, A<5> of the girder, and are preferably tubular to receive bolts or the like for the attachment of stays, cross-girders &c.
