Abstract

356,129. Aircraft wings. SOC. ANON. DES ATELIERS & CHANTIERS DE LA LOIRE, 4, Rue de Teheran, Paris. Feb. 27, 1930, No. 6540. Convention date, March 1, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 4.] Aircraft wings have the drag-bracing between the spars composed of compression members b arranged as in a Warren girder. The compression members may extend the full depth of the wing and be shaped to its profile so as to support the covering material through the intermediary of stringers c, let into notches in the members b, thus dispensing with ribs. The members b make angles of 60‹ with the spars so that identical flanged gusset plates e, Fig. 5, may be used in all the angles for securing the members b to the spar flanges and to one another. At the angles between the members b, gusset plates may be used at intervals along the full depth of the wing. The members b may be reinforced by L-members bl. A wing having detachable leading and trailing edges is described, attachment lugs being formed on the members b where they meet the spars. Where an intermediate spar is used, the front and rear spars are similarly braced to the intermediate spar.
