Abstract

1362597 Clocks and watches OMEGA LOUIS BRANDT & FRERE S A 12 June 1972 [14 June 1971] 27316/72 Heading G3T [Also in Division F2] In a motion converter for mounting on an oscillatory member in a timepiece and comprising an enclosure containing a loosely mounted ratchet wheel 3 which is advanced by co-operation with pawls 5, 8 owing to the wheel's inertia, the ratchet wheel is supported on at least three hard balls 20 fitted in apertures 21 which are spaced around the wheel. As shown, four balls 20 of ruby, sapphire, or tungsten carbide are pressfitted in the apertures 21 and coincide with magnetic poles of the wheel 3. Fitting of the balls with adhesive is also envisaged. The enclosure is filled with a light lubricating oil and the wheel 3 drives a magnetic wheel (not shown) of the timepiece gear train. The train wheel is pivoted below enclosure base plate 14 so that the wheel 3 is normally held in contact with the plate by magnetic attraction. The wheel 3 comprises a disc 3a of PtCo alloy press-fitted with a toothed ring 24; a laminer wheel construction is also envisaged and the use of a single driving pawl and a non-return device acting on the ratchet wheel.
