Abstract

1362077 Spray-gun heads S K M SA 10 Jan 1972 [11 Jan 1971] 1213/72 Heading B2F In an atomising head which comprises a central axial jet of air entrained paint particles, there are provided lateral jets of air which are directed onto the front face of the head to spread thereon so as to envelope the axial jet and prevent paint particles from blocking the main jet's outlet orifice. As shown, the lateral jets are produced by grooves 6, 7 formed in the head and which terminate short of the axial jet orifice 8. In modifications, the depth of the grooves decreases towards the outlet orifice; symmetrically disposed pairs of grooves are provided which converge towards the outlet orifice; the grooves are replaced by vent holes formed in a ring which constitutes a rear extension of the head, some of the holes being directed to the apex of the head and others being directed in front of the head.
