1361749 Dicarboxylic acids ORDENA LENINA INSTITUT KHIMICHESKOI FIZIKI AKADEMII NAUK SSSR 29 March 1972 14722/72 Heading C2C Aliphatic α- w-dicarboxylic acids are prepared by treating a cyclic saturated hydrocarbon with a gaseous mixture including 1-8% by volume of ozone at less than 100‹ C. Air, nitrogen, oxygen or nitrogen and oxygen with the ozone may be passed through a solution of the cyclic hydrocarbon in an organic solvent such as nitromethane, or through a melt of cyclic hydrocarbon. Metal salts such as copper, nickel, chromium, manganese or cobalt acetates, naphthenates, and phosphates may be present. Examples describe the oxidation of cyclohexane, cyclododecane and cyclooctane.
