Abstract
1361328 Flux for continuous steel casting CONCAST A G and HOLDERBANK FINANCIERE GLARUS A G 10 Nov 1972 [12 Nov 1971] 52146/72 Heading C7M [Also in Division B3] A halogen free flux powder used in continuous steel casting comprises a fluxing agent, carbon supplying material particle size < 1 micron, Portland cement and up to 35wt per cent quartz; the CaO:SiO 2 weight ratio being 0À7-1 and the Al 2 O 3 content 2-12wt per cent. The preferred flux contains 5-20% calcined soda, 1-8% carbon black, 50-70% Portland cement and 2-7% Al 2 O 3 for Al containing steels.
