Abstract

1361216 Electronic watches SUWA SEIKOSHA K K 2 Dec 1971 [3 Dec 1970] 55777/71 Heading G3T A wholly electronic timepiece having liquid crystal time display, is provided with manually operable switches for correcting or setting the time indicated, including a first switch means S1 Fig. 1 for simultaneously changing (i.e. resetting to zero) the time indication of all the digits of display 7, and a second switch means S2 to S7 for selectively resetting to zero the time indication of individual digits. Also, by means of switch S1 the timepiece may be used as a stopwatch. The timepiece may be a watch, as Fig. 1 wherein a crystal controlled oscillator X is followed by invertors 12, 13 and an M. O. S. frequency divider chain 1 the output of 1 HZ at terminal Q of which is applied to divider counter 2 and thence to divider counters 3 to 6. Each counter includes a portion which rectifies the input signal to that counter and applies the rectified signal via lines 16, 19, 21, 23, 25 respectively to activate appropriate elements of the hours, minutes, and seconds digits. By closing S1 a reset signal voltage V DD is applied to respective terminals R of the f divider block 1 and counter blocks 2 to 6, whereby the time display is zeroed. To correct the time, S2 can be closed to apply voltage V DD and reset f changer block 1 without affecting the other blocks (counters 2-7). Then each time S3 is closed and opened a pulse is applied to block 2 so that the seconds units indication increases by one. Likewise by closing and opening S4 sequentially any desired 10 sec time indication can be produced, and so on with the setting switches S5 to S7.
