Abstract

1431013 Electronic watches CASIO COMPUTER CO Ltd 13 March 1973 [15 March 1972 21 April 1972] 12063/73 Heading G3T An electronic watch for indicating date and days of the week on demand as well as time, has in addition to the usual sec, mins and hours counters (20, 21, 23) Figs. 1 and 2 respectively, a binary counter 29 which sends one carry pulse per day to step a 31-step counter 30 and a 7-step counter 32 for counting the seven days of a week. When a date demand switch 27 is pressed, AND gates 24a, 24b .... are enabled to send date signals from AND gates 31a, 31b ... to a driver 17 via OR gates 25a, 25b ... and decoder 26 whereby the date is displayed on the hours display section 14 instead of hours. The contents of the 7-step counter 32 are converted to days of the week signals and operate the appropriate one of seven display elements 16a to 16g (e.g. electric lamps or liquid crystal) suitably labelled as shown Fig. 1. In another embodiment Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), the element 16a is energized each second by the output of a binary counter (50). The elements 16b to 16g are activated sequentially and cyclically in units of 10 secs. When the date push button 27 is pressed the seconds display is interrupted, to be replaced by the days of the week display. The display devices 14, 15 for hours, mins and date may comprise liquid crystal elements or digit display tubes. Alternatively the time and date may be indicated by analogue display means, the days of the week and seconds being indicated by the display elements 16a-16g.
