Abstract

1377534 Watches DAINI SEIKOSHA K K 8 June 1972 [9 June 1971] 26839/72 Heading G3T A calendar watch has a crystal oscillator as its timebase, liquid crystal digital displays 14, 15 of the hours and minutes, and a calendar display 4 comprising a panel which is marked with the dates and lies in front of a matrix of liquid crystal elements, one element of the matrix being energized to display the date. Seven calendar panels are provided and the user fits the appropriate panel so that each date falls on the correct day of the week as indicated by a row of letters 11. An energizing signal is supplied to a row and a column of the matrix and the energized element lies at the intersection of the row and column. The seconds display is provided by a liquid crystal element 16 which is switched on and off every second and elements 17-21 which are sequentially and cumulatively switched on at ten second intervals. Alternatively there may be a segmental digital seconds display. An a.m.-p.m. liquid crystal indicator 13 is provided and switches 7-10 for setting the minutes, hours, day, and date. Operation of a further switch 6 stops the watch and is used for setting the seconds. The display driving and setting circuitry is described Fig. 2 (not shown).
