Abstract
1,128,419. Calendar clocks. LAU, CHUN LEUNG and LAU, CHI LEUNG. April 24, 1967, No.18771/67. Heading G3T. A calendar clock mechanism comprises a day wheel steppable through thirty-one successive positions by means actuated by a solenoid once per day, a month wheel steppable to successive positions in response to the completion of each series of positions of the day wheel, said wheels each comprising coaxial zones associated with months having other than thirty-one days, and contact making means whereby when the day and months wheels assume positions corresponding to a non-existent date at the end of a month less than thirty-one days, a circuit to the solenoid or to a further solenoid is completed to step the day wheel to its next successive position. The day wheel A is divided areally into seven zones A 1 to A 7 (zones A 1 to A 4 being shown exploded in Fig. 1A) and is rotated by a spring loaded pawl 122 actuated by a solenoid P energized once daily by a clock controlled switch M 2 . Thirty-one teeth are provided around the periphery of the zone A 3 . Zone A 2 carries teeth at locations 1, 10, 20, 30, Zone A 4 carries a tooth at location 31, zone A 5 teeth at locations 30 and 31, and zone A 6 teeth at locations 29, 30, and 31. The month wheel B is peripherally divided into 48 tooth carrying locations each associated with one month in a four year cycle. These are provided on a zone B 4 , whilst zone B 1 carries teeth at locations indicating April, June, September and November in all four years, zone B 2 carries a tooth indicating February in a leap year, and zone B 3 carries teeth indicating February in the other three years. Indicator drums E, F, G, H show the days of the week, the tens digit of the day of the month, the units digit of the day of the month, and the month, respectively. These drums are driven by solenoid devices actuated by the closure of contacts effected by the teeth on the wheels A, B. The contacts Y and U, Z and V, and N and X are respectively connected in series between lines 142, 143, so that whenever the wheels are in positions corresponding to dates which do not exist, e.g. June 31st, the solenoid P will be energized to rotate the wheel A until positions of the wheels A, B corresponding to a real date are achieved.
