Abstract
517,865. Date-indicators. LEVY, A. July 7, 1938, Nos. 20117/38 and 6146/39. [Class 106 (iv)] In a daily-changed date indicator automatically operated by a clock mechanism a wheel 1, Fig. 1, driven from an electric clock closes contacts 4, 5 once every day whereby a magnet 6 is energized to advance a day-name wheel 12 and a magnet 13 to advance a date-figure wheel 17. The date-figure wheel 17 and the monthname wheel 37 are shown twice to clarify the diagram. When the date-figure wheel 17 completes a revolution, it closes contacts 48, 49 in the circuit of the magnet 33 driving the monthname-wheel 37. The month-name wheel 37 has a contact 52 in the February place and contacts 53-56 in those places corresponding to 30-day months. The date-figure wheel 17 has a contact 50 in the " 28th " place and a contact 51 in the " 30th " place. The contacts. 52, 53-56, 50, 51 co-operate with each other and with fixed contacts 57, 58, 59, in such a way that a magnet 60 is energized to advance the date-figure wheel at the end of February and a magnet 61 to. advance the wheel at the end of the 30-day months. In a modification, Fig. 3, contacts 82 are closed once daily by a clock-driven wheel 1, and faster-moving wheel 71 then closes contacts 5, 4, to energize magnet 6 to change the day-name wheel 12. The fast wheel then closes contacts 4, 72-75 in succession. Contacts 4, .72 complete the circuit of a magnet 13 to advance the date-figure wheel 17 one step. At the end of February, contacts 66, 67, 68 on the date-figure wheel 17 co-operate with a contact 52 on the month-name wheel 37 and with fixed contacts 76, 77 whereby the magnet 13 is energized each time a contact pair 72-75 is closed, the wheel thus being given three extra steps and moved to show " 1." At the end of a 30-day month, the date-figure wheel is given one extra step by the co-operation of the contacts 68 with one of a 'set of contacts 53-56 arranged on the 30-day month places of the wheel 37. The wheel 37 is moved one step for each complete rotation of the date-figure wheel by a magnet 33 energized through contacts 48, 49 closed by the date-figure wheel. The contact element 66 may be removed, the date indicator then being set for a leap year. In a further modification, the' ratchet wheels of the datefigure, day-name and month-name wheels each have a multiple of the minimum number of necessary teeth, the arrangement of Fig. 3 being modified by providing additional contacts to give the additional number of actuating impulses.
