Abstract

1360932 Electronic watches DAINI SEIKOSHA KK 25 July 1972 [30 July 1971] 34739/72 Heading G3T An electronic timepiece gives a digital indication of time in a section 3 Fig. 1 and in addition gives an indication in a section 4, of the time interval between the time at a given moment and a predetermined time in the future i.e. remaining time before a fixed appointment. Preferably liquid crystal display panels are employed. An alarm may be operated at the termination of the predetermined time interval. The timepiece comprises a crystal controlled oscillator Fig. 2, (not shown) the output of which is divided to produce a 1 pulse/ sec signal which is fed to a counter. The counter produces a timing signal which is fed via a driver to the time indicating display section 3. The timing signal from the counter is fed to a further counter (not shown) which applies a signal having a frequency of 1 pulse/ 10 mins to a divider 20 Fig. 3. This produces signals on lines 20a, 20b, 20c at 1 pulse/10 mins, 1 pulse/20 mins, 1 pulse/40 mins respectively. These signals are each passed to respective AND gates 21, 22, 23 and according to the setting of a time-scale selector switch 25 for selecting the max. remaining time, the appropriate AND gate is opened to pass one signal e.g. the 1 pulse/10 min signal, via the respective NOT gate 21a to a shift register 24. The register has outputs to the remaining time indicating panels 26a to 26f. Initially all the panels are turned ON and after an interval, i.e. 10 mins with switch in position 1, a pulse is applied to the register from divider 20 causing the output in a line 24f to disappear so that panel 26f turns OFF. The remaining panels are sequentially turned OFF at 10 minute intervals. The remaining time is determined from the number of panels which are turned ON. Alternatively, the panels may be turned ON in sequence. The position of switch 25 is translated by a decoder 27 into a voltage to activate drive elements 28, 29, 30 which indicate the time scale (e.g. 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours etc) in numerical form, for the remaining time.
