Abstract

1359671 Electric couplings FERRANTI Ltd 25 April 1972 [18 March 1971] 7347/71 Heading H2E A connector 10 for interconnecting printed circuit boards 16, 16<SP>1</SP> comprises an insulating body 11 having grooves 22 receiving contact members 12. Each contact member has contacting portions 29 which are extensions of a central coil-spring 28. In use, the connector is clamped to the opposing contact-carrying edges 14, 14<SP>1</SP> of major surfaces 15, 151 of the boards as shown; the contacting portions 29 connecting opposing contacts 13, 13<SP>1</SP>. The contact members are held biased by the abutments 25 co-operating with arms 27 which are received in slots 24. A V-shaped notch 26 accommodates the coil spring as shown. The connector holds the boards together by dowels 18 and bores 17, and is clamped in place by means of screws 20 cooperating with a base member, or another similar connector, on the reverse faces of the boards.
