Abstract
1359106 Roller mills BUEHLER AG Gebr 7 July 1972 [8 July 1971] 31949/72 Heading B2A [Also in Division F2] The roller 1, 2, Fig. 1, of a roller mill contains a hollow chamber 5 partly filled with coolant medium 6 in the liquid phase and sealed off at 23. The roller may include a hollow trunnion 3, 4 also partly filled with coolant. In operation, the liquid vapourises at hot spots within the roller and condenses at cooler spots thus equalizing the roller temperature, coolant liquids may be water or alcohol. Where a pair of rollers is used, e.g. running at different speeds one roller is cooled from an external coolant source and the other (usually the shower) may be cooled by the abovedescribed system. The end trunnion may include a small bore 24 providing communication between the end trunnion chamber and the main roller chamber, Fig. 6.
