Abstract

1358808 Sampling liquid with gas in solution JESSEL CO Ltd 17 Aug 1972 38376/72 Heading B8N Apparatus for use in obtaining samples from a pressurized vessel containing liquid with gas in solution, e.g. beer, comprises a container 1, a tube 6, means for releasably securing the tube at one end to the container, a connector to which a pump can be attached to pressurize the container, and a manually-operable valve for relieving the pressure in the container. As illustrated, bosses 15, 23 welded to a closure 16 are externally screw threaded so as to receive a coupling 13 and the cap-nut 28 of a bicycle tyre valve 27 respectively. The tube 6 is, in use, connected to a shut-off valve 9 of a vessel containing pressurized liquid with gas in solution. In operation, prior to opening valve 9, the container 1 is pressurized by means of a bicycle pump connected to the valve 27. After removal of the pump and opening of the valve 9, leakage of air via the valve 27 by manual adjustment of the cap-nut 28 will permit the liquid to flow into the container without frothing. The container 1 may be lined with a fluoro-carbon copolymer (e.g. P.T.F.E.). The parts 2-4, 6, 13, 15, 16, 18 and 23 are formed of stainless steel.
