Abstract
1358696 Cable NORTH WESTERN SPECIALITIES Ltd 22 Nov 1971 [25 Aug 1970 31 Dec 1970] 40842/70 and 61989/70 Heading H1A A metallic sheath S forming the neutral conductor of an electric cable is in the form of a strip having edges forming tongues and recesses; a tongue on one edge being opposite a recess on the other. The strip is laid longitudinally along the cable and is wrapped around it with the edges abutting or overlapping. To allow access to the cores one tongue can be prised away from the cable, without requiring any of the sheath to be cut away. The tongues and recesses may take a variety of shapes, e.g. sinuous or sawtooth. They may extend over the whole length of the cable, or part of it with the sections of the sheath in between having substantially straight edges parallel with or at an angle to the cable core. The cable may be circular or flat, and the cores of rectangular or circular cross-section. A method of forming the tape and wrapping it around the core is also described.
