Abstract

1357738 Stud-and-socket fasteners ITW Ltd 26 Oct 1971 [26 Oct 1970] 50783/70 Heading E2B A plastics stud fastener for engaging in a hole 10 in a plate has at least one barb having a concave surface which engages the corner of the plate and which accommodates different plate-thicknesses and hole-sizes. The concave surface may comprise several planar facets, but as shown is smoothly curved. In the form shown in Figs. 1, 2a and 3, designed for round holes, the barbs 16, 18 have pairs of concave surfaces 26, 28 and 30, 32 respectively set at an angle appropriate to engage the circumferential edge 22, 24 of the hole. In the form shown in Fig. 4, a single barb 16a engages in a square hole 10a.
