Abstract
1357039 Abrasive wheels HITACHI SEIKO Ltd 23 March 1972 [31 March 1971] 13713/72 Heading B3D [Also in Division C7] Electrolytic grinding apparatus comprises an electrode grinding wheel 5 formed by a plurality of sectoral electrode units 6 insulated from each other, and a brush 9 for supplying A.C. or D.C. electric current only to those electrode units (units 6 1 and 6 2 as shown) which are directly engaged in the electrolytic grinding operation at any given time. The brush may contact the electrode units directly, via plates having a lower coefficient of friction than the wheel and attached to each electrode unit (Fig. 5, not shown), or via a sectoral conducting ring, each sector of which is electrically connected to one of the electrode units forming the grinding wheel (Fig. 6, not shown). The electrode units 6 may be formed of graphite and may have diamond, metal carbide or other abrasive grain particles embedded in the grinding surface thereof.
