Abstract

1356615 Shaping metallic strip stock SEALED POWER CORP 11 May 1971 [21 May 1970] 25596/73 Divided out of 1356611 Headings B3A and B3E A press for performing a series of repetitive operations on a length of metallic strip stock having an initially flat contour comprises: a feed mechanism located upstream of a series of operating zones and operable to grip and push the stock through the operating zones, a first operating zone including means for operating on the strip stock while it remains generally flat, a second operating zone having punch and die means for operating on the stock while its width remains substantially unaltered and a third operating zone having means for bending the strip stock longitudinally so as to reduce its width, the first, second and third operating zones having strip stock guide means for confining the strip in its width dimension, the first zone guide means being stationary and the guide means of the second and third zones including platform means movable in the thickness direction of the strip, the platform means of the second zone including a pivoted arm adjacent the outlet of the first zone. The press is described in detail in Specification 1,356,611.
