Abstract

1356614 Making metallic rings; coiling SEALED POWER CORP 11 May 1971 [21 May 1970] 25595/73 Divided out of 1356611 Headings B3A and B3E A machine for forming metallic strip stock into rings comprises means for feeding strip stock of generally channel-shaped cross-section through a coiling die assembly, the assembly including a coiling arm pad and an anvil on opposite sides of the strip, the pad having a forming surface which incrementally coils the strip into a ring in co-operation with a complementary surface on the anvil, the pad being pivotally-mounted about an axis parallel to the ring axis, and drive means for pivotally moving the pad in synchronism with the feed means so that the strip is stationary during closing of the coiling die assembly. The machine is described in detail in Specification 1,356,611.
