Abstract
1356359 Adjustable beds VEENENDAAL & CO 13 April 1972 [19 April 1971] 17046/72 Heading A4J The inclinations of the head and foot ends 3, 8 of a bed are adjusted by inflating or deflating flexible hoses 5, 15 which relax to a C-configuration on deflation and radially expand on inflation, U-shaped elements 4, 14 being connected to the head and foot ends and bearing against the periphery of the hoses such that deflation or inflation of the hoses causes movement of the elements and pivotal movement of the head and foot ends about their pivot points 2, 7 respectively. The hoses are connected by hydraulic lines to manually operated or electro-hydraulic valves connected to a mains supply and an outlet line or a closed reservoir from which and to which liquid is pumped.
