Abstract
1355353 Controlling air supply to IC engines; preventing running on TOYO KOGYO CO Ltd 25 May 1971 [27 May 1970(2)] 17013/71 Heading F1B Auxiliary air is supplied via passage 4 to an I.C. engine induction passage 3 downstream of a throttle valve when the ignition switch 5 is turned off and/or when the engine is decelerated. Opening switch 5 opens solenoid operated valve 19 to admit air to a chamber 14 to open valve 7 in passage 4. Closure of throttle valve to decelerate the engine causes a pressure drop in chamber 13 which also opens valve 7. A small hole 16 in diaphragm 12 allows a slow equalization of the pressures in chambers 13 and 14 so that, when valve 19 is closed and the engine is not decelerating with closed throttle, valve 7 remains closed.
