The cross-section has a minimum moment of inertia in planes normal to the axes A, B and may be rectangular as in Fig. 2, reinforced by end or intermediate flanges such as 7, Fig. 6, or arcuate, Fig. 10. The neutral axis may be in the plane containing the axes A, B as shown or offset therefrom.
