1354839 Plastic pads ABEX PAGID EQUIPEMENT SA 26 Oct 1972 49527/72 Heading B5A [Also in Division F2] A friction pad for a brake or clutch comprises a rigid support 1 on one face, 1a, of which is located a friction material 11, an antifriction material 9 being provided on the opposite face 1b and passing through passages 2 in the support 1 to underlie the friction material on face 1a. The pad is made by placing the support in a two part mould 3, locating plastically deformable antifriction material and pulverulent friction material on the support and compressing both materials under the plate 8 of a press. The mould is then heated to harden the friction material which is caused to be fritted or sintered. In further embodiments the antifriction material is made flush with the lower face 1b of the support or may be made only to partially cover face 1b so that the axis of a brake applying piston of a disc brake is offset from the axis of the portion 9 of the antifriction material.
