Abstract

The process is used in the mfr. of pads for disc brakes, taking a preformed friction liner together with a performed support plate in organic material, and uniting the two by superimposition followed by hot-pressing. The process includes the introduction of metal reinforcement in the support plate, thus, providing tough zones where brake cylinder etc. forces are applied. The reinforcement may be embedded in the support plate casting, may be force fitted into a recessed rear surface area, or may be bonded to the rear face. Embedded elements may be in plate or mesh form; and other elements may take the form of a disc or an annular plate with or without peripheral flanging.
