Abstract
1354632 Sewing machines NECCHI SpA 26 Jan 1972 [6 Feb 1971] 3627/72 Heading DIG In a sewing machine a stack of pattern cams 25 together with their housing 26 are movable along the cam shaft 27 by turning a knob 41 which is connected to a toothed wheel 39. A spring 43 holds the adjusting wheel in its set position. There are two cam followers each having three limbs. The first limb 48 of top cam follower 45 is linked to the needle holder guide 14 via levers 51 and 54, the first limb of the lower cam follower is linked to a stitch control device 68 via levers 64 and 66 and a shaft 67. The second limb of each cam follower contacts the cams, while the third limb of each may contact respective back stops which are carried on the housing (35, 70, 73 Fig. 6 not shown) when, for example, straight stitching or backward feed is required. The cam shaft 27 is driven through a worm and gear 33, 34 from the main drive shaft 23. The needle bar support 14 is suspended on a leaf spring. Both cam followers may be engaged simultaneously, or only the top one singly.
