Abstract
837,788. Sewing machines. NECCHIS.p.A., [formerly NECCHI-S.p.A., V.] Jan. 8, 1958 [Jan. 9, 1957], No. 807/58. Addition to 809,961. Class 112 The arrangement described in the parent Specification, wherein a single control lever is operated to vary the adjustments of the amplitude and centre line of zigzag stitching and the direction of work feed to produce a buttonhole pattern, is modified to provide feed in the same direction for both sides of the buttonhole. A pin 37 fixed in a plate 12 in the arm 1 of a zig-zag sewing machine journals a sleeve 36 to which is secured a lever 35 and three cam discs 32, 33, 34. The latter cooperate with follower portions of respective levers 14, 15, 16, pivoted at 13, for respectively controlling the feed, the amplitude and the centre line. Cam 33 is formed with five notches which co-operate with lever 15 to hold the cams in five positions of adjustment. In position 1 the top bearing stitches A are produced in position 2 the left hand side B of the buttonhole, in position 3 a straight line of stitching C in the reverse direction at the right hand side of the buttonhole, in position 4 the right hand side of the buttonhole over stitches C, and in position 5 the bottom barring stitches E. The cams may be turned through 180 degrees to bring into operation a second set of surfaces adapted to produce a buttonhole of smaller size. A lever 47 is adapted to separate the followers from the cams. It is stated that in the positions 2 and 4 the usual feedadjusting means may be operated to vary the stitch length.
