1354418 Wire fabrics G REHM 14 May 1971 [21 May 1970 17 Aug 1970] 14996/71 Heading D1K [Also in Division E1] A flat mesh of concrete reinforcing rods has secured thereto a number of shaped reinforcements which lie initially in the plane of the mesh and which can be bent out of the plane to form, e.g. spacers, shear bars or reinforcement for ribs. The shaped reinforcement may be U-shaped (Figs. 1, 2, 4, 5 not shown), in the form of a frame (Fig. 3, not shown and Fig. 6), or in the form of interconnected rods or frames (Figs. 7-18, Fig. 14 only shown, Fig. 19, Figs. 20-32, Figs. 23 and 32 shown). In the embodiment of Fig. 19, a flat slab with projecting reinforcement is cast, as a floor slab. Fig. 23 shows a hollow floor slab, with a further, lower mesh 27 fixed to the shaped reinforcements. Fig. 32 shows an arrangement where bars 51 are cut at intervals to form the shaped reinforcements. Where interconnected rods are bent out, as in Fig. 32, the bent rods are initially arranged not to extend to the edge of the mesh, to avoid lapping problems.
