Abstract

879,383. Girder casings. DAWNAYS Ltd. WELWYN BUILDERS Ltd., and KELL, T. April 28, 1960 [May 1, 1959], No. 14995/59. Class 20(4). Permanent shuttering for encasing a girder &c. 1 consists of reinforced concrete panels 2, 3 having longitudinal and transverse ribs, the panels being secured to theigirder, and the space between the panels and girder being subsequently filled with concrete to form a unitary casing. U-shaped reinforcing rods 6 are embedded in the transverse ribs of the bottom panel 2 and their projecting ends are bent over the bottom flanges of an I girder or over the upper edges of the flanges of a channel-section girder. Reinforcing rods 9 in the longitudinal ribs of the side panels 3 are bared at intervals along their length and serve for the attachment of hooks or U-shaped members 10 passed through the web of the girder. Alternatively the side panels may have reinforcing rods projecting from their transverse ribs and secured in holes in the girder. The transverse ribs of the side panels are staggered with respect to those of the botton panel. The shuttering panels comprise concrete including crushed brick aggregate.
