Abstract

1354383 Coating apparatus RANSBURG CORP 2 Nov 1971 [12 Nov 1970] 50791/71 Heading B2L Apparatus for spraying a mixture of expanded thermoplastic spheres and a resin comprises a reservoir 11 for the mixture, a pump 12 and a dispensing gun 14 which can 'eject the mixture along with a catalyst from a reservoir 34 and, if required, chopped glass rovings from a cutter 22. The expanded thermoplastics spheres are mixed thoroughly with the resin in reservoir 11 and are ejected therefrom by a pump 12 driven by an air motor 18. A control valve 13 is provided which is actuated by operation of the spray gun 14 in such a way that during pauses in spraying the mixture is returned to the reservoir. Two nozzles are provided on the gun to produce an impinging spray of the mixture and a third gun is centrally located to introduce a catalyst to the point of impingement. Glass roving may be provided from a cutter and ejector 22 and these join with the mixture and catalyst sprayed from the other nozzles.
