Abstract

1354070 Thermographic transfer assembly G RITZERFELD 24 Aug 1972 [23 Oct 1971] 39490/72 Heading G2C An assembly comprises a transparent carrier sheet having a surface of which one portion carries a layer of heat-transferable dye material and a further portion is free of the dye material, a master sheet having a surface facing the carrier sheet surface and attached only at the further portion of the surface of the carrier sheet and a protecting sheet removably inserted between the carrier sheet and the master sheet, the master sheet surface being provided with a marking which is parallel to one edge of the master sheet and which is visible through the further portion. The master sheet may be perforated along the marking and may be transparent. The marking serves as a registration line for the edge of the original copy sheet or proof which is put on the assembly with the correctly reading side facing downwards i.e. facing the carrier sheet. The original and the assembly is then put into a screen and fed through a thermographic copying apparatus for setting up the printing master to produce a mirror image on the surface of the master sheet facing the carrier sheet surface. This mirror image may be transferred to copy sheets.
