Abstract
1353250 Regulatingfurnace draught PRENCO MFG CO 19 April 1971 [27 July 1970] 24690/71 Heading F4B [Also in Divisions G3 and B1] Flow controller, which is designed for use in association with the shaft of an incinerator and particularly when such incinerator is applied to the pyro-decomposition of fluid waste material in the form of automotive paints and primers, comprises an annular chamber 2 which is disposed at the end of the incinerator shaft 5 and which is supplied with a fluid from a blower B through a valve 7, the chamber 2 having an annular opening 3 from which a stream of fluid 4 is emitted in a direction generally towards the shaft outlet and at an angle to the direction of flow of the main fluid through the shaft 5. The interaction of the main fluid stream and the emitted fluid stream restricts the outflow of the former and so increases the dwell time of the main fluid within the shaft. The increase in dwell time results in a greater decomposition of the impurities contained in the mainstream. Figs. 2-8 and 11-12, not shown, depict various modifications of the above embodiment in which, inter alia the annular chamber is shown disposed intermediate the incinerator shaft ends. Figs. 13- 14, not shown, depict the apparatus used in the pyro-decomposition.
