Abstract

1353000 Photographic silver halide materials AGFA-GEVAERT 12 Oct 1971 [20 Oct 1970] 49791/70 Heading G2C Photographic silver halide materials having a hydrophobic film support carry on the opposite side of the support to the emulsion layer an antihalation layer comprising a dye or pigment (e.g. carbon or silver) dispersed in a waterinsoluble, alkali-soluble polymer, and between the support and said antihalation layer an intermediate layer formed from a mixture of 1 to 3 parts by weight of a cellulose ester and 3 to 1 parts by weight of an alkali-soluble polymer. Cellulose esters specified are the di - and triacetate, and alkali-soluble polymers are sulphonated polystyrene, copolymers of styrene with maleic acid, acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, copolymers of vinyl acetate with maleic acid or crotonic acid and nitrated copoly (styrene/maleic acid). The antihalation layer binder may be a copolymer of acrylic acid with styrene or methyl acrylate or copoly (ethyl acrylate/methyl methacrylate/methacrylic acid).
