Abstract

1352098 Escalator balustrade GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 21 Aug 1972 [24 Sept 1971] 38923/72 Heading B8A A balustrade for an escalator or moving walkway comprises a top portion supporting a handrail and having a downwardly extending flange overlapping a side panel the lower edge of which is received in a groove in a channel member and the panel being held against the overlapping flange by a yieldable spring member mounted inside the balustrade. In the Figure, side panel 30 is inserted under overlapping flange 29 and the lower edge is then dropped into groove 32 of channel member 31, yieldable spring clip 54 then holding the side panel 30 against the flange 29. Such a construction permits the side panels of the balustrade to be joined by means of splice members with no protruding parts and allows disassembly only with the aid of, e.g. a suction cup panel holder.
