1351980 Locks ALSTONS (LONG MELFORD) Ltd 15 Dec 1972 [20 Dec 1971] 59057/ 71 Heading E2A A lock comprises a substantially flat rectangular housing 1 an aperture 4 in each of two opposite walls 5 of the housing for reciprocably guiding therein an elongated, flat, bolt member 7, a lug 10 in the housing and spaced notches 9 in an edge 8 of the bolt member for retaining the bolt member in each of two positions and a pin 13 projecting from the interior of the housing at right angles to the plane of the bolt member for supporting a key for engagement in a recess 14 in an edge 12 of the bolt member for moving it against the action of the lug engaging a notch, the bolt member having an elongated slot 11 to provide resilience during the movement of the lug from one notch to the other. The bolt member is guided by lugs 15 on the housing supported by a web 16. The housing has apertured thickenings 2 at the corners for securing by an open side to a door or the like. The lock may be made of plastics or of a light, metal alloy or the bolt member may be made of plastics and the housing of a light, metal alloy.
