Abstract

1351907 Frames for handling containers VALMET DY 23 May 1972 [25 May 1971] 24176/72 Heading B8H [Also in Division E2] A frame 5 which is mounted on the lifting carriage of a lift truck 1 has securing means for engagement with the two corner pieces fixed to a container one at each of the two upper corners on one vertical side of the container, the said securing means comprising a supporting pin 6 and a locking lever 7 for engagement with each of said corner pieces. Each supporting pin 6 engages in an aperture in the side of the corner piece which is against the vertical side of the container while the associated locking lever 7 is pivotally mounted above the pin 6 on the frame 5 for engagement in an aperture in the side of the corner piece which is at the top of the container. The levers 7 are each pivotally connected to the piston rod 10 of a spring- loaded piston in a cylinder 8 and when it is desired to mount a container 4 on the frame 5 pressure fluid is supplied to each of the cylinders 8 and the respective pistons and piston-rods 10 therein move upwardly against the action of a spring 11, and by means of the piston-rods 10 the levers 7 are thus raised to theiropenposition. The pins 6 are then moved into their associated apertures in the side of the container 4 and a releasing pin 9 mounted adjacent the pins 6 is pushed inwardly by the container causing actuation of a pressure release valve (13), Fig. 4 (not shown) in an hydraulic circuit which causes the release of pressure in the cylinders 8 whereby the levers 7 are released into their locking positions shown in Fig. 3, with the aid of the associated springs 11.
