Abstract
1351618 Sliding gate nozzles for ladles DIDIER-WERKE AG 23 April 1971 [23 April 1970] 11150/71 Addition to 1322375 Heading F4B In a sliding gate nozzle for a metallurgical ladle, an annular gas permeable brick 11 is inserted in the nozzle plate 6 forming a continuation of the orifice brick 4. A gas port (12, Fig. 2) extends through the plate 6 to a three-way valve (13) by which an inert gas, e.g. nitrogen or argon or a reactive gas, e.g. chlorine may be supplied. In a modification (Fig. 3) the whole orifice brick 4 comprises the gas permeable brick and extends into the nozzle plate 6. It is supplied from a three-way valve through a gas passage (14, 15) extending upwardly through the sliding plate and part of the nozzle plate. The gas permeable brick may be made of mullite, corundum, magnesite or zirconia with a pore size of 20-350 microns, preferably 50-100 microns.
