Abstract

1351320 Headgear NATIONAL SUNLIGHT LAUNDRIES Ltd 13 Sept 1972 [1 Dec 1971] 55876/71 Heading A3V Headgear, e.g. a chef's hat, comprises a flat sheet of flexible material, preferably cotton, having a length 1 substantially equal to the circumference of a human head, and a width 2 at least equal to the height of the crown of such head above the eyebrows, the material being provided with tapes 3, 4 at the ends of the length thereof, which tapes have complementary surface textures such that when pressed together a temporary but firm fastening is provided and the material is formed into substantially cylindrical envelope. A tape 6 identical to the tape 4 is provided alongside the tape 4 to render the hat adjustable for a range of head sizes. If desired the tapes 3, 4, 6 may be replaced by press studs, hooks and eyes or tapes for tying up, and the shape of the material may be such that it forms a conical or frusto-conical hat in place of the cylindrical form described above. The sheet is preferably provided with a head band 5 and a top band 8 and an intermediate region 9 with pleats 10. A semi-circular crown portion 12 may be sewn to the top band 8. Alternatively a separate piece of material may be provided for the crown.
