Abstract
1350523 Measuring fluorescence ZINC CORP Ltd 24 March 1972 [25 March 1971] 14033/72 Heading G1A An immersible fluorescence probe for monitoring a liquid comprises an immersible housing 10, 11, a window 18 adjacent which is placed a gamma- or X-ray source 19, and a radiation detector 16. The source 19, which preferably has an energy of 10-100 keV, produces fluorescence radiation from the stationary or turbulent liquid in which the probe is inserted. This radiation passes through the window 18 and a filter 20 to impinge on an NaI crystal 21 and photo-multiplier 16. In this way the composition of the liquid, and/or particles dissolved or suspended thereon may be determined.
