Abstract
1,021,788. Radiation gauging and analyzing. COMMISSARIAT A. L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Feb. 17, 1964 [Feb. 15, 1963], No. 6441/64. Heading G1A. [Also in Division H1] Apparatus for analyzing or measuring the thickness of a coating on a moving galvanized iron plate or other specimen 19 comprises a proportional counter 15 (see Division H1) having a beryllium window 16 supporting a lead ring 17 and a correspondingly shaped radio-active source 18 of tritium on zirconium. A filter 20 formed by sheets of nickel and iron may be provided. An amplitude analyzer (not shown) is connected to the counter 15 to measure the intensity of pulses produced by X-rays from the specimen 19.
