Abstract
1350091 Holding down spindles SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN GmbH 3 June 1971 [3 June 1970 10 May 1971] 18881/71 Heading D1D A spindle assembly comprises a spindle 12 surrounded by a hollow wharve 16 in the cavity of which a bearing 14 is supported by a fixed collar 10. An annular or U-shaped locking element 28 is held eccentrically by a leaf spring 52 to lock the wharve on the spindle by interference with a peripheral groove 30 which may be in the wharve and an abutment flange 22 which may be on an extension of the collar 10. The assembly is unlocked by pushing the element 28 across by inserting a pin through a hole 38 in the wharve. The element 28 has flat sides 48 and 50 which engage guide cheeks 42, 44 on an annular part 34. The groove may alternatively be formed on the periphery of the collar 10 and the abutment on the inside of the wharve, Figs. 3 to 6 (not shown). The U-shaped locking element is illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown). The abutment is upwardly tapered to facilitate press fitting.
