Abstract

1350023 Transducers; diaphragms SIEMENS AG 5 April 1972 [23 April 1971] 15567/72 Addition to 1293670 Heading H4J A transducer, particularly a microphone, which consists of a diaphragm 2 that is gripped in its peripheral region by a resilient body 3, e.g. silicon rubber, such as to obtain particular frequency peaks for the diaphragm, comprises a member 6 having an upstanding annular surface 5 for supporting the resilient body 3, the inner diameter p2 of the annular surface being greater than that p1 of the body 3. Members having different size annular surfaces may be provided so that a particular size supporting surface may be selected in dependence on the frequency characteristic required of the transducer. The member 6 may be hollow with apertures connecting the inner hollow to the space behind the diaphragm (Fig. 2, not shown) so as to form a Helmholtz resonator, and possibly also to the space defined by the rear part 10 of the transducer casing (Fig. 3, not shown). The diaphragm may carry a ceramic piezo electric layer. An amplifier may be incorporated in the housing which has an external contact 12 mounted in an insulating portion 11 thereof.
