1349057 Compression-ignition engine precombustion chambers PERKINS ENGINES Ltd 10 May 1971 [12 May 1970] 22834/70 Heading F1B [Also in Divisions C6-7] An insert 4 forming one wall of the combustion chamber 1 has a gap 13 in the peripheral wall 7 which is closed or almost closed when the cylinder head 2 is at an intended working temperature. An inlet aperture 9 is formed in the floor 8 and an adjoining outlet aperture may be formed in the wall 7 or the floor. The insert 4 is formed of an alloy steel containing 0À1 to 0À35% C, 0À5 to 1À5% Si, up to 1% Mn, 18 to 23% Cr and up to 0À5% Ni.
