1348394 Packaging technical equipment INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 4 Nov 1971 [10 Nov 1970] 51274/71 Heading B8C In a method of packaging technical equipment, particularly telephone exchange units, lower and upper base-sections 2, 3 are successively fitted over the lower and upper portions respectively of the equipment with the interposition of corrugated board edge pads 4 and lining members 5, cover pads 6 are placed over the top and bottom of the base whose ends are then closed, and the base 8 is secured in an upright position, for example by straps, to a primary pallet 9. Several such palleted units, for instance three as shown, are then placed side-by-side on a secondary pallet 10 and orientated so that their primary pallets 9 are outermost and form parts of the walls of the completed package, whereupon a grid of wooden boards 11 is secured to the pallets 9, 10 to protect those sides and side portions of the package not protected by the pallets. The completed package may include only a single unit. The edge strips are formed from strips of corrugated cardboard with strips of corrugated cardboard glued thereto, the strips being bent to L-shape. The outside surfaces of the boxes may be coated with a plastics material.
