Universal coupling,. -In a flexible coupling for shafts, a disk 14 on one shaft has lugs 12, 13, and a similar disk on the other shaft has lugs 10, 11 which overlap the lugs 12, 13. Laminated springs 15, 16, 18, 19 secured together in pairs as shown, are arranged between the lugs. The ends of the springs may overlap the lugs as shown in Fig. 1, or they may be free to move in grooves in the lugs, and the lugs may have renewable bearing surfaces in contact with the springs. The springs may be so mounted as to be readily removable. The opposing ends of the springs may be drawn towards each other by bolts with turn-bucldes to facilitate their insertion into the coupling, and stops may be formed on the disk 14 to limit the compression of the springs.
