Abstract

110,683. Parkes, A. I., and Mainwaring, T. Feb. 6, 1917. Shaft couplings.-A yielding coupling suitable for use between an electro-motor and a rolling-mill comprises disks 1, 2, on the driving and driven shafts A, B, provided with lugs 6, 7, between which are rubber or other suitable cushions 12 or springs threaded on bolts 8. The faces of the disks 1, 2 are not in contact and the bolts 8 are loose in the lugs. Curved steel washers 13 bearing on curved surfaces may be interposed between the cushions and lugs. In a modification, the lugs 6, 7 are formed on divided rings bolted to the disks 1, 2, and helical springs are threaded on the bolts 8.
