1347905 Jacquards APPARATEFABRIK AG HUTTWIL 19 April 1971 [19 Feb 1970] 22111/71 Heading DIE A double lift open shed Jacquard comprises double hooks 3 each leg of which has a tongue 13 cooperating with oppositely moving griffe knives 10, 11 and a tongue 12 cooperating with open shed blades 14, 15, stationary guides 16 for the tops of the hook legs 8, 9, movable guides 32, 33 which act on the ends of selected hooks to entrain or release the tongues 12 from the open shed blades 14, 15 and presser needles 1 for entraining the tongues 13 with the griffe knives 10, 11, each leg 8, 9 of a hook being actuated by a presser needle 1 from different sides of the Jacquard. Each open shed blade 14, 15 is movable diagonally downwardly and inwardly of a hook and each hook 3 has a bottom bridge piece 5, with lifting cords 7, resting on a bottom board 4. In use a hook 3 having its leg 8 selected from the left of the Jacquard has that leg 8 moved away from the stationary guide 16 so that the tongue is in the path of the ascending knife 10, the open shed blade 14 then descends to provide clearance between it and the ascending hook. The hook may thereafter descend with the knife 10. If it is desired to maintain the raised hook in the open shed position a selection from the right side of the Jacquard causes a presser needle 1 to move the leg 9 free of the guide 16 so that the tongue 12 engages the ascending open shed blade 15 and the knife 10 then descends leaving the hook in the open shed position. To ensure that the rising knife 11 does not foul the tongue 13 of the leg 9 the movable guide 33 moves to the left, the open shed blade 14 ascends, the blade 15 descends transferring the tongue 12 to the blade 14 and the guide 33 returns to the right allowing the leg 9 to abut the guide 16 and provide clearance between it and the rising knife 10. If it is desired to return the hook in the open shed position for a further pick the hook is in a similar manner transferred to the open shed blade 14 whilst the knife 10 ascends and the knife 11 descends. The hooks are lowered by moving the open shed blade that retains the hook downwardly whilst its corresponding lifting knife is in its upper position thus transferring the hook to a descending knife.
